FRICKLEY Athletic fell to their third home defeat on the spin on Saturday as Ashton United left with a slender 1-0 victory in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on Saturday.
The Blues struggled once again in front of goal and Sam Madeley took full advantage to fire the visitors to three points in the 79th minute.
Peter Rinkcavage’s men had enough chances to bag all three points and also had a penalty appeal waved away by the officials after Danny Walsh was felled inside the box.
Jack Watts saw an effort cleared off the line while Walsh and James Ashmore also had good chances for the off-target hosts.
Rinkcavage has already highlighted the need to bolster his attacking options and the defeat will only strengthen his desire to get a new striker in sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, the Blues will visit Division 1 North side Garforth Town in the first round qualifying of the FA Cup on Saturday, September 17 after Town beat Sheffield FC in the preliminary round on Saturday.
