IT’S less than a week until Frickley Athletic’s first friendly game of the pre-season at the Tech5 Stadium and Blues fans can expect to see a host of new faces on show.
Peter Rinkcavage, the Frickley manager, has been a busy man in the transfer market so far this summer and a number of new players are expected to make their debut when the Blues host Scarborough Athletic on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
No fewer than nine new arrivals have made their way to South Elmsall and more could yet follow as Rinkcavage continues to build his squad for what he hopes will be an improved season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
Five new arrivals were already in place before Rinkcavage bolstered his Blues squad with four more new faces.
Defender Charlie Fisher has returned to the club, while Ben Leonard has signed from Stocksbridge Park Steels, Rob Austin has arrived from Retford United and promising young winger Teo Ringrose has penned a deal from AFC Emley.
The quartet add to the arrivals of Ollie Ryan, Stuart Ludlam, Michael Simpkins, Alex Callery and Bradley Grayson.
The Blues returned to training last week and Rinkcavage marked it by retaining the services of a number of key players from last term.
Stalwart Dean Jones will return again as will Mark Whitehouse, Andy Catton, Ashley Longstaff and Jack Watts.
Goalkeeper Ben Simpson has already penned a new deal to remain at Westfield Lane.
Rinkcavage is also confident of securing the services of more of last season’s squad as and when they return to pre-season training and announcements are expected over the next week.
Admission to Tuesday night’s clash with Northern Counties East League side Scarborough is priced at £5 for adults, £3 concessions and £2 for under-16s.
The focus will be more about upping fitness levels and allowing the new-look squad to gel rather than a result.
The Blues have also announced ticket details for their marquee close season friendly against npower Championship side Barnsley on Tuesday, July 20 (kick-off 7pm).
Tickets cost £6 for adults, £4 for concessions and £2 for under-16s.
Frickley have also added a friendly against Brodsworth Welfare on Saturday, July 30 (kick-off 3pm).
The match will take place on the pitch outside Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium.
