BARNSLEY will host npower League 2 side Morecambe in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The draw took place this morning and the Reds have received a favourable tie in the opening round of the competition.
It will be the first time the Tykes have ever played Morecambe in a competitive fixture.
There will be added spice to the game thanks to Keith Hill, the Barnsley manager, having ended his playing career with the club in 2003.
New signing David Perkins also made 199 appearances for the League 2 side at the start of his career.
The tie will take place in the week commencing Monday, August 8.
Other notable ties include a West Yorkshire derby between Leeds United and Bradford City at Elland Road, while Nottingham Forest will host Notts County.
