HEMSWORTH’S Scott Askham will face his toughest mixed martial arts (MMA) fight yet when he enters the ring with the experienced Lee Chadwick next month.
The unbeaten 24-year-old will take on the St Helens-based Chadwick on a Combat Sports FC bill at Doncaster Dome on Saturday, October 6.
It’ll come hot-on-the-heels of Askham’s title win in Batley last time out, meaning he’ll go into the contest in good spirits.
And although he’s well aware of Chadwick’s MMA abilities, Askham is confident he can secure a sixth professional win that will fire him up the rankings.
“He’s a fighter who’s been around a long time,” said Askham.
“He’s a big name, a well known fighter, and it’s going to be a good step-up for me.
“It’s going to be tough but if I beat him he’s a great person to have on my record and hopefully it’ll get me noticed a bit more and move me up the rankings.”
He will defend his UCFC British Middleweight title on Saturday, December 1, however, with his likely opponent being European title holder John Waterhouse.
A venue is to be decided, with the Batley Frontier Club and a venue in Blackpool the current front-runners.
Tickets for Askham’s next bout against Lee Chadwick on Saturday, October 6 are priced at £30 or £600 for a table of ten.
Wayne Murrie, of South Elmsall, is also on the bill. Contact Scott on 07584 250727 for more information.
