HEMSWORTH fighter Scott Askham is set for his biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) fight since turning professional on Saturday.
The 24-year-old has been handed a tasty tussle against highly-ranked Denniston ‘Mad Max’ Sutherland on the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship’s landmark 50th show in Glasgow.
It is the fight Askham, who trains at Matrix MMA in Doncaster, has been waiting for after starting his professional career undefeated with seven straight wins.
The Hemsworth ace has been eager for contest against one of Britain’s top MMA fighters to help move him up the rankings and has got his wish against a well respected fighter who is a former UCMMA Middleweight Champion and currently ranked 11th in the middleweight category.
Askham has stepped in at short notice to face the Jamaican-born but British-based Sutherland at what is set to be a packed Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena, but he is confident he can finish the year in winning style with four wins from as many bouts in 2012.
