A woman from the Hemsworth area is fighting for her life after the motorbike she was riding on was in a collision with a car.

Police said a black Pulse XF125 motorbike collided with a white Toyota Corolla on the A628 Collier Road, at the junction with Engine Lane, in Shafton, near Barsnley, at around 7.50pm on Saturday,

The man riding the motorbike, 36, and a 35-year-old woman, who was a pillion passenger, both suffered life-threatening injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the woman remained in a life-threatening condition and the man was in a serious but stable condition.

The man driving the Toyota was not injured.
