Youngsters from junior schools across the district took part in the The Big Sing at Wakefield Cathedral this week.
More than 350 children from nine different schools took part in the annual event – organised by Wakefield Music Services and the Cathedral – and sang a range of ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ themed songs which celebrated effort, determination, individuality and achievement.
Phil Needham, principal of Wakefield Music Hub, said: “The enthusiasm and positivity that shone out from the young people through their singing was overwhelming.
“Events like this really do bring people and communities together and show how inclusive and powerful music can be.”
Children from Ackworth Howard Church of England Junior & Infant School, Greenhill Junior & Infant School, Heath View Community Primary School, Moorthorpe Primary School, St. John’s Church of England Junior & Infant School, St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy, St. Mary’s Church of England Junior & Infant School, Stanley Grove Primary School and Towngate junior & Infant School took part in the event.
