Scattered snow showers and hail will continue to fall throughout the day in the Wakefield district.

Traffic is slow on the M62 and M1 due to poor driving conditions but most roads are clear as the Wakefield Council gritters have been out on force overnight.

The Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning, which is expected to run until 11pm tonight, and drivers have been told to expect disruption and hazardous driving conditions.

Arriva said that no problems have been reported on bus services across the Wakefield district and no schools are currently closed.
