Two men have died after the car they were travelling in crashed into a lamp post in Featherstone.

The men, both aged in their 20s, were in an orange Ford Focus ST when they crashed at the junction of Wakefield Road and Common Side Lane at around 11.50pm last night (Friday, February 13).

West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) has appealed for anyone who saw the incident to get in touch.

Sgt Ann Drury, from MCET, said: “Enquiries remain ongoing today into what has clearly been a significant incident on the districts roads which has sadly resulted in two fatalities.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision itself and anyone who saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven prior to the collision.

“Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.”
