A TEENAGER has died and a woman is fighting for her life after a collision in Brierley yesterday (Wednesday).
The 18-year-old woman was a passenger is a black Renault Clio, driven by a 45-year-old woman, that collided with a lorry on Moor Lane, Brierley at 8.10am.
The Clio was travelling from Great Houghton towards Hemsworth and a white lorry was moving in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Clio appeared to loose control, crossed the carriageway into the path of the lorry and collided head on.
The Clio then left the road to the nearside and both occupants were trapped in the car, South Yorkshire Police have said.
The 18-year-old woman from Barnsley suffered multiple fatal injuries and the driver, also from Barnsley, sustained life threatening injuries and was air lifted to Leeds General Infirmary.
The 63-year-old man from Bradford, driving the lorry was not thought to have been hurt.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or either vehicle prior to the crash to call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident number 198 of the 16 February.
