STUDENTS at Hemsworth Arts and Community College have been spreading their wings as part of a spectacular outdoor production.

The young people joined forces with Faceless Theatre Company to make an appearance as giant birds.

They spent five days with professional actors learning how to use bird masks, costumes and puppets before performing the Conference of Birds to 50 local residents, parents and community representatives.

The students used physical theatre to depict the journey of a group of birds, which leaves its troubled land in search of peace.

The project, which will also visit Bradford, Dewsbury and Bridlington, is supported by the Arts Council England through its grants for the arts scheme.
