stand-up comic Stephen K Amos brings his brand of observational humour to Theatre Royal Wakefield next month.

Amos has entertained audiences across the world with his natural, assured delivery and his honest, original material, and is on tour with his new show The Best Medicine.

He began his career as a compere at the Big Fish comedy clubs in south London, and made his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut in 2001, performing there every year since 2003.

Away from the fringe, Amos is a regular performer at the Comedy Store in London, featuring on the bill several evenings each month, as well as at other venues around central London.

Amos has also appeared in the 2007 Royal Variety Performance, and his TV appearances also include panel shows Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week, The Wright Stuff and And Then You Die.

His own TV show, The Stephen K Amos Show, was broadcast in 2010, featuring a combination of stand-up, sketches and guest performers.

In March 2007 his documentary on homophobia in the black British community and Jamaica, Batty Man, was broadcast by Channel 4, winning a Royal Television Society award and nominated for a BAFTA.

Amos has made regular appearances at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and while in Australia he regularly appears on Australian TV shows, including the improvisational comedy show Thank God You’re Here.

He won the best international comedian prize at the 2007 New Zealand International Comedy Festival and as an actor has appeared in both the Edinburgh Fringe and London run of a version of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.

Amos toured the UK in 2008-09 with his show Find the Funny, and his second national tour the following year was The Feelgood Factor, both which have been released on DVD.

Stephen K Amos’ The Best Medicine is at Theatre Royal Wakefield on Saturday November 5 at 8pm.
