Children from St Francis Primary School were given a tour of the town by the Morley Community Archive Group.

The year four pupils were invited to the town hall where they were met by the Mayor of Morley Coun Tom Leadley who met the children in the Mayor’s Parlour and showed them the Civic Rooms.

Led by their teacher, Miss Olivia Greaves, Dr Clive McManus and Julie Heeley of the Morley Community Archive Group took the class on a tour of the historical points of interests around the town.

Coun Wyn Kidger. the chairman of Morley Community Archive Group, said: “We did a mini tour of the civic rooms which are quite exceptional to see and the children would not normally get a chance to see them.”

She also added similar events are likely to take place with the other schools in the area. She said said: “My idea is to get more schools involved, we have just had the court room done up and I want to do a re-enactment of court cases.”
