Talented youngsters from Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy took to the stage at the West Yorkshire Playhouse this week.
A cast of 13 pupils aged 14 to 18, performed a play called Heritage, by Dafydd James, to a sell-out crowd on Tuesday.
The performance was part of the National Theatre’s Youth Festival. The ‘blistering black comedy’ told the story of a group of misfit children chosen to close the May Day celebrations. As rehearsals break down, they realise they’ve been chosen for a much darker purpose.
The pupils put the show together in their own time, rehearsing on evenings and weekends.
