Young brownies have celebrated their centenary year with a series of adventurous and creative challenges.

Kinsley Church of the Resurrection pack marked the Big Brownie 100th Birthday with tasks including a sleepover at The Deep in Hull, a tree climbing and zip wire challenge, cooking on a camp fire, and visiting a stately home.

Kinsley First Brownies have completed their challenges for the Big Brownie Birthday Year Challenge, which see Brownies from all over the country taking part in local challenges to mark their centenary year. Each challenge, set by Girlguiding UK, is linked to a milestone year in Brownie history.

Members of the group, all aged seven to 10 received a special Big Brownie Birthday badge to celebrate completing all the challenges after 36 weeks.

The section was also presented with a cake in the shape of the badge.

Leader, Wendy Freer, said: “Seeing the girls take on the Big Brownie Birthday challenge has been fantastic. They have learnt lots of new skills and I am really proud of the way they have taken on the challenges. We have all had lots of fun along the way.”
