EVERYONE’S favourite mystery-solving mutt swapped Scooby snacks for chocolate eggs when he filled in for the Easter Bunny at a children’s playgroup.

The Jolly Tots playgroup, which runs at the Hemsworth Town Council Community Centre, played host to Scooby-Doo last Friday, who dished out Easter eggs to youngsters.

Teresa Barber, who set up the group, said: “Unfortunately, the Easter Bunny is very busy at this time of year, so he sent his good friend Scooby-Doo along to meet the children.

“It was very hectic, as we had around 35 children, much more than usual, but they had a great time.”

Jolly Tots began after Mrs Barber found a lack of playgroups locally that would allow her son Luke, four, who has chronic heart and lung disease, to mix with other children.

She said: “We used to go to a playgroup for children with special needs but I wanted to create something where anybody would be welcome. We’ve been running for five weeks and we’re growing steadily.”
