PARENTS, staff and pupils at Hemsworth Arts and Community College were celebrating after receiving a national award in recognition of its engagement with parents.

The college has been awarded the Gold Standard award by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

Principal Pam Massett said: “To be awarded the gold level is a tremendous achievement for the college and the staff who work hard to support students and their families.”

The college also received an Investors in Community Education award which recognises its work in the community as well as a Quality Standard in Extended Schools award in recognition for its extra-curriculum activities and work with agencies.

Mrs Massett added: “This award fits well with the Investors in Community Education and Quality Mark for Extended Schools which demonstrates the willingness of the college to fulfil its brief of being a Community College.”
