Roads complaints

Potholes and blocked drains have led to more people contacting our Sort it Out Campaign.

South Kirkby residents complained about blocked up grates on Faith Street and Brooksfield being in a state of disrepair.

People living in the Westfields estate at Cutsyke in Castleford also complained of potholes, and in Pontefract, drains were blocked on Back Northgate.

Council highways boss Graham West said: “The road gullies in South Kirkby were cleaned this spring but we aware of some flooding on Brooksfield.”

Mr West said Westfields would be inspected soon to see if patching or resurfacing was needed.

He said: “Back Northgate, Pontefract, has already been patched and will have a surface treatment by early autumn. The road drainage gullies will also be cleaned before resurfacing.”

Further work was expected to reduce the risk of flooding around South Kirkby Business Park.
