youngsters got their hands dirty as part of a multi-agency community action day in Havercroft and Ryhill.
The children took part in a litter pick and various clean up operations with the help of local police and councillors.
The action day also saw representatives from Wakefield Council, Wakefield rural neighbourhood police team, the fire service and arson task force, Wakefield District Housing (WDH) and other partner agencies, meet with local residents to listen to their concerns.
The event - which took place at the Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centre, Mulberry Place, Ryhill - was aimed at improving the local environment and exploring ways for different agencies to work together in the future.
It was one of the first of its kind in the area.
Visitors were also able to take advantage of free home safety fire checks, a free dog chipping service and a buffet lunch.
