People are being invited to sign up for the 30th Upton Fun Run later this month.
The four-mile run, on Sunday May 18, starts at Brookside WMC on Tom Wood Ash Lane, and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Organiser Christine Elkin said: “It’s a fantastic event which is part of Upton tradition. It’s the only community event left in the village.”
The route goes through the village, to the church at North Elmsall, near the railway cottages and finishes just past Brookside WMC. Everyone who takes part will receive a medal and there will be trophies for all the age category winners.
The winners’ presentation will take place at Brookside WMC when all the runners have crossed the finish line.
Organisers have applied for road closures between the Netto roundabout and the bottom of Barnsdale Bar.
Registration will begin at 8.45 am and the race starts at 10am. Advance entry costs £1 or £2 if you enter on the day.
Entry forms are available from shops in Upton and South Elmsall or by contacting Mrs Elkin on 01977 647079.
