Children from Kinsley Primary School have named a new street in their village as part of a competition run by Wakefield and District Housing.

The development, where 20 new family homes are being built just off Fitzwilliam Street, has officially been called Ings Court.

Pupil Charlotte Smith came up with the winning entry, one of four names put forward by WDH’s local management committee to Wakefield Council’s planning department.

Charlotte, eight, said: “It’s great that my name has been chosen. I can’t wait for it to go up so everyone can see it.”

Ings Court was chosen due to its historical reference to Ings House – an independent living scheme that used to occupy the site.
