A DRIVER was dragged from his car and assaulted by thugs who then made off in his car.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the man was forced from his car in Kinsley.

The attackers - two men in their early twenties - stole cash and the driver’s mobile phone before driving off in Nissan Almera.

The carjacking took place at the junction of Carr Gate and Wakefield Road on Tuesday, April 26, between 11.10pm and 11.20pm.

The 45-year-old man was driving along Wakefield Road when the man stepped in front of his vehicle and asked him to stop.

He wound his window down but the man opened the car door, dragged him out and then was joined by another man who then assaulted the victim.

They drove off in the car in the direction of Fitzwilliam.

The vehicle was found two hours later burnt out on Dicky Sykes Lane, Ackworth.

The driver attended hospital but was not kept in overnight.

They suspects are both under 25 years old, white and of a medium build.

One was wearing a light coloured hooded top and the other was wearing a dark hooded top.
