Police have been cracking down on speeding drivers and motoring offences at an inter-agency action day.
Officers from the South Kirkby neighbourhood police team (NPT) joined forces with the Wakefield District Operation Matrix team, traffic officers, the highways enforcement team, VOSA, the environmental crime department, staff from the Department of Work and Pensions. Revenue and Customs and the court service outside the Beverley Arms in Ackworth last Wednesday.
Three fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers who were not wearing seatbelts and one was issued to a motorist for a fog light offence.
Two fixed penalties and one summons were issued for speeding, along with two VOSA prohibitions for brakes and lights. Three people were arrested for non payment of fines and two notices were served on taxi drivers for minor vehicle defects.
Insp Geoff Carter, from the NPT, said: “This was an excellent example of inter agency working and I would like to thank our partners.
“We aim to conduct similar operations in the south east in the forthcoming months.”
