A community support officer who goes out of his way to help residents of all ages has received recognition for his commitment.
PCSO Ken Short, part of the South Kirkby neighbourhood police team (NPT), has been nominated for the Express 100 faces campaign.
PCSO Short was put forward by Kathleen Martin because of his work with local nursery children and for looking out for elderly people within the community.
Mrs Martin, of Church Top, South Kirkby, said: “Ken checks on all the kids at night to make sure they are safe, because sometimes they climb on the community centre roof.
“There is an old lady who lives on my street and he visits her to make sure she is alright. He has donated a bike to the children at the local nursery. Ken goes the extra mile. He is very helpful. I know it is his job but I really feel like he actually cares.”
The Express 100 Faces campaign recognises those in our community who go the extra mile. To nominate someone, email firstname.lastname@example.org, call 01977 642214 or visit the office on Front Street, Pontefract.
