A ONE-WAY system will be put in Hemsworth next week due to road works.
A seven week scheme to upgrade gas mains in the Station Road area of Hemsworth, Pontefract, will start on July 23 by Northern Gas Networks.
Engineers will be working on Station Road, Hall Farm and Cottam Croft.
The one way system will be along Station Road, from Cross Hill to Church Close, and on Cross Hill, from Wakefield Road to Station Road.
This will allow traffic heading in a North Westerly direction, away from Hemsworth, to proceed as normal.
Traffic heading from the opposite direction will be diverted via Pontefract Road, Hemsworth bypass (A628), Hemsworth Road, Kirkby Road, Market Street and Cross Hill.
The project, which has been timed to coincide with the school holidays, will see the region’s gas distributor replace old cast iron gas pipes with more durable plastic pipes - safeguarding local gas supplies for many years.
Work will be carried out by engineers from Balfour Beatty, working on behalf of Northern Gas Networks.
