A FUN day to celebrate the revamp of a care home has raised £200 for its residents.
Stockingate Care Home, in South Kirkby, celebrated a successful start to the year under new ownership with an open day with friends, family and South Kirkby Mayor Coun John Taylor.
The home, which provides residential and dementia care for the elderly, came under new ownership late last year.
It has since been refurbished, taken on new staff and had excellent inspection reports by the Care Quality Commission.
The care home and its gardens was decorated with ribbon and balloons for the event, which included stalls, raffles and live music.
Coun Taylor was shown around the home by manage Mbango Whittaker and spent many hours talking to residents and their families.
Mrs Whittaker said: “It was a huge honour having the Mayor at our Open Day and I was very pleased that he got to see the effort our staff and some family members had gone to, to make the day such a memorable event for our residents”.
She thanked everyone that came and helped to raise the £200 for their residents’ fund.
