A CHILDREN’S centre has been given a facelift in a project to encourage people to love their community.
Staff at Havercroft Children’s Centre were joined by Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) employees to spruce up the outdoor area of the centre.
The painting project formed part of WDH’s Love Where You Live campaign, which involves the organisation helping local people to transform their communities to make it a better place to live.
Liz Robinson, centre manager said: “It is great to work with WDH on projects such as this and we really appreciate all their support.
“Events like this are a massive help to the centre and we like to encourage volunteer engagement, including parents, where possible.”
Children at the centre will now be able to enjoy a newly decorated garden area.
Jane Gwilliam, WDH tenant involvement officer, said: “It’s great to help and support local groups such as this one, as they really benefit from all the hard work that goes into it.
“They do a lot of good work with the local community and it’s great that we can offer support as part of our wider Love where you live project.”
