A new group has been set up in Hemsworth to bring together people who have been affected by conflict in their lives.
The African Board for Conflict Resolution group was set up last year and has seven members.
Jean-Claude Nkurunziza, chairman, said: “The group was set up to promote integration between different communities and cultures.
“We chose the name The African Board for Conflict Resolution because we want anyone who has been through conflict in their life to come and share their experiences.
“Where I come from there has been a serious war.”
Mr Nkurunziza, 39, originally from Burundi in Africa, said: “We want to walk not only with people in the community here in Hemsworth, but with everybody who has been through conflict in their life.
“Currently we have four members who are not from the UK and the rest are from Kinsley.”
The group meets twice a month at the Hemsworth District Partnership premises on Close Street.
