Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell has revealed that more talks with players over new contracts are planned in the wake of another first teamer agreeing a new deal this week.
The Tigers started the year knowing they had a high number of players who were out of contract at the end of 2016, but have been working their way through them with four so far having put pen to paper on deals tying them to the club for the next few years.
Ben Roberts became the latest to agree a new contract, following Adam Milner, Oliver Holmes and Andy Lynch - with Michael Shenton, Denny Solomona and Nathan Massey signing long term deals late in 2015.
Head coach Daryl Powell is keen to have stability in his squad and said there were more players up for consideration for deals.
He told the Express: “There’s a few players we haven’t spoken to yet who are out of contract at the end of the year.
“We’re looking at form lines and we’re looking for those players to continue to play well and show us that their future is at the club.
“In particular I think Jake Webster’s doing a great job. He’s one of the players who’s contract up and he’s playing really well.
“In the not too distant future we’ll be talking to him and to other players too.”
