PATRIOTIC spirit continued well after the extra day off as residents carried on celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
A fashion show at Fitzwilliam Day Centre showcased styles popular throughout the Queen’s 60 year reign.
Youngsters from the youth club modelled the clothing at the centre on Wakefield Road last Thursday.
One of the organisers, Margaret Hall, said: “Everyone really enjoyed it, it was a fantastic day.”
Youth club members Luke Bexon, Melissa Bexon and Sarah Woodcock worked on the show for several weeks with the help of Keiron Williams, Callum Williams and Billy Briggs.
The Park Estate Convent Avenue and Burntwood Estate (PECABE) residents’ association also held a street party on Wednesday
And the King and Queen of fancy dress at Hemsworth Miners Social Club were named as Jasmine West, nine, and 18-month old Alfie Rogerson.
The older generation also got involved as they took part in a day of celebrations at the Sacred Heart Church, Market Street, Hemsworth, last Wednesday.
Kath Whinfrey, who helped on the day, said: “It was such a lovely atmosphere, everyone really enjoyed it.”
