Martial arts enthusiasts from across the country descended on Moorthorpe for a special seminar on the subject.
Demonstrations including kung fu, karate, judo, tai chi and jujitsu were featured at the event organised by ET Martial Arts Academy of Seven Golden Dragons at Moorthorpe Miners’ Institute. The seminar was given by Professor Tony Smith, chairman of the United Kingdom Martial Arts Forum.
Professor Smith, of The Nippon Dai Martial Arts Academy in Blackburn, gave speeches to instructors who came from as far as London and Scotland for the event.
Advice was given to instructors on topics such as child protection awareness and coaching courses. Eamon Timmons, instructor at ET Martial Arts Academy of Seven Golden Dragons, said:“This is the first time a seminar has been held in Moorthorpe , normally they are held in places like London.
“I was extremely proud to have so many top martial arts instructors there. Everyone was very enthusiastic and I hope it happens again soon.
“I would like to thank all those who helped make it possible.”
