Man found not guilty of death by careless driving

A man accused of causing the death of a cyclist by driving carelessly has been found not guilty.

Jeffrey Walton, 52, of Station Road, Ryhill, was found not guilty at Leeds Crown Court today (Friday).

Maria Micklethwaite, 36, died after being struck by Mr Walton’s car as she rode along Slack Lane, South Hiendley, near Wakefield, on January 13, last year.

The jury found him not guilty after a two day trial.
