A MAN refused to come down from a rooftop in South Elmsall after police turned up at his door to speak to him about other matters.
At least seven police cars, a van and the police helicopter were called to the house on Barnsley Road at 9.40am today (Monday).
The road was cordoned off between junction with Harrow Street and Little Lane for several hours as police officers tried to coax the man down from the roof.
He eventually came down and was arrested.
A police spokeswoman said: “The officers were making enquiries in relation to an offence. The man made his way to the rooftop and refused to come down. Officers have spoken to the man and eventually he came down. He was arrested in relation to the incident and is currently in custody.”
