Wakefield walk cancelled
Breaking news...
A WALK through Wakefield has been cancelled following the recent heavy rainfall.
The Love Where You Live walk that was due to take place on Saturday, July 14, at Anglers Country Park, has been postponed.
Wakefield Council has said a full refund will be given to those who have already paid and the event will be rearranged later in the year.
Andrew Balchin, corporate director for communities said: “Owing to the recent heavy rainfall, and with more forecast for the next few days, it is with regret that the Love Where You Live Wakefield Walk 2012 has been cancelled.
“Parts of the route have become so waterlogged that it would be dangerous for those taking part on foot or by bike.
“In addition to this the car park area has also become unsuitable due to the rain.
“We are contacting those people that have registered in advance to take part in the event, but want to get the message out to people who were planning to turn up and take part on the day that the event is cancelled.”
