UPDATED: Arrest over Hemsworth assault
Police and forensics at scene of assault on Kirkby Road, Hemsworth.
A MAN has been arrested after a man suffered serious injuries in an assault in Hemsworth.
Police care carrying out forensic investigation outside Buffalo’s takeaway on Kirkby Road, where the man was assaulted at around 1.30am this morning (Monday).
Police and ambulances were called to the scene and the man was taken to Pinderfields Hospital with serious injuries.
West Yorkshire Police have said the victim remains in a serious but stable condition.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
He remains in custody pending questioning by detectives.
Kirkby Road between Baylee Street and Grove Lane was closed in both directions with the area cordoned off to the shops.
Maurice Allen, of Maurice Allen Butchers, said: “It hasn’t affected us too badly as Monday’s not our busiest day and people have been able to come round the back.”
