Train sex offender further remanded
A CONVICTED sex offender who molested a woman on a train has been committed to Leeds Crown for sentence.
Aaron Gary Hardy, 29, propositioned a total stranger, then groped and kissed his terrified victim while on board the Doncaster to South Elmsall service on November 18.
Hardy, of Crown Yard, South Kirby, denied sexual assault but was found guilty last month.
He returned to Wakefield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for sentencing but Deputy District Judge Peter Hollingworth told him his powers were insufficient.
He said: “I convicted Hardy after a long trial on December 11. It was a sexually orientated attack on a vulnerable female on public transport.”
He said he had since read about a high risk of re-offending and mental health issues.
Hardy, who has a previous conviction for a similar sex offence in 2011, was further remanded in custody pending sentence at Leeds Crown Court on February 6.
