Teacher lives life in fast lane
A SOUTH Elmsall teacher had more than pupils to drive him crazy when he travelled 8,000 miles in a charity car rally.
Alex MacIntyre, a humanities teacher at Minsthorpe Community College, drove from East Sussex to Mongolia and raised 2,100 for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation.
He took on the Mongol Rally challenge with his friends, Graham and Selena Priestly, in a 1.1 litre Peugeot 106 – and completed the trek in just 22 days, coming 15th out of 400 teams.
The trio set off on Saturday, July 24, and travelled through numerous countries, including Belgium, Holland, Latvia and Russia. Teams from across the world battled it out to be the first to reach Mongolia.
Mr MacIntyre, 31, decided to embark on the 'adventure of a lifetime' challenge after Mr Priestly suggested it.
He said: "It was a fantastic experience and I am really proud of the time we finished in. It was tough but it a fantastic experience and we got to see a lot of beautiful countries."
