Mrs Wilcox leaves school

THE FINAL bell has rung for a dedicated member of Stockingate Mill Junior School.

Janet Wilcox spent 29 years at the South Kirkby school but said her final goodbyes last week.

Mrs Wilcox, from South Kirkby, first started as a dinner lady and then went on to become a much-loved teaching assistant.

A special school assembly was held in her honour on Tuesday, May 29, where poems were read to say goodbye.

Youngsters at the school presented her with farewell gifts - including sun loungers and a bird bath - as she loved the outdoors.

Headteacher Hazel Winter said: “She will be sorely missed by both staff and pupils.”
