Surgery gala raises money
FUNDRAISERS in Upton clubbed together to raise more than £340 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Greenview Medical Centre, on Waggon Lane, raised £344 for the charity at their summer gala on Sunday, September, 9.
The bishop of Wakefield, Rt Rvd Stephen Platten gave an opening speech.
There were lots of children’s rides and stalls to keep the crowds happy.
More than 100 people turned up and helped to raise the valuable funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Senior administrator at the surgery, Paula Bentham, said: “It was a good day and we managed to raise £354 for the Air Ambulance which was great.
“But we must thank Kay Durkin who organised the gala.
“The day wouldn’t have gone ahead without her and we would just like to say a big thank you to her for all her hard work.”
The Royal British Legion had a stall, as well as the Upton Photography Group and the Upton History Group.
Kerry Garner, West Yorkshire regional fundraiser for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “Thank you to the staff and patients at Greenview Medical Centre for organising and attending the event.
“We are absolutely delighted that we were the chosen charity.
“The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent Charity needing to raise £7,200 every day so having support such as this is vital in keeping our two Helicopters flying and saving lives.”
The surgery still has a number of unclaimed raffle prizes from the gala.
The ticket numbers are White, 226,445,344,381,235,387, Blue 13,22,32,365,59 and Green 28,29,146. If you have a winning ticket contact Mrs Bentham on 01977 647521.
