SUPERMARKET staff have gone the distance have supported an Express reporter’s marathon mission.
Asda Distribution Centre, on Elmsall Way, South Elmsall, held a coffee morning to raise funds for Families Against Neuroblastoma – a charity which funds research and trips out for children with the condition.
Reporter Katie Butler is taking on the Virgin London Marathon in April and is raising money for the charity after her friend’s three-year-old niece was diagnosed with the rare type of cancer.
Staff also chose the charity to receive the Community Life cash donation – a total of £400.
Asda’s Community Life Champion Angela Spencer said: “Everyone felt it was such a good charity as it will go towards helping look after children who are being so brave. We are glad to have helped.”
Miss Butler thanked all of Asda’s staff, Yorkshire Building Society and South Elmsall Town Council which also donated to the charity. Visit www.justgiving.com/katie-butler2 to sponsor Miss Butler.
