Sun Inn has outshone all the rest!
The pub of the year contest for 2012 has now finished.
The votes have been counted and checked and we can now reveal this year’s winning pub is The Sun Inn, Main Street, South Hiendley, from the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express circulation area, which polled over 600 of your votes.
The Sun Inn will receive an engraved trophy to display behind the bar and a Hemsworth & South Elmsall Express vinyl banner which can be hung on the outside of the pub for all to see.
The runner-up from the Pontefract and Castleford Express area is The Olde Tavern at South Baileygate, Pontefract who will also receive a vinyl banner. And The Barnsley Oak in South Elmsall will receive a ‘highly commended’ certificate.
Thank you to all the readers across both districts who took the time to send us their votes and to the 42 pubs for taking part, displaying posters and vote boxes and getting into the spirit of the competition. We received more than 2,100 voting slips this year!
Promotions staff will contact prize winners in the next few days.
