Pupils at Upton Primary may have been forgiven for thinking there was an emergency when a fire engine pulled into the playground.

But last Wednesday’s visit from South Elmsall firefighters tied in with lessons on heroes.

Teacher Kay Collier said: “The driver turned on the sirens and the children chose which one they liked the best – it was the nosiest!”
