A SECOND bookmakers in The Express area has been robbed at knife point in less than a week.

Betfred, on Wakefield Road, Kinsley, was robbed last Wednesday, October 3 at around 8.30pm.

The incident happened just six days after Ladbrokes, on Market Street, Hemsworth, was also robbed at knife point.

Last week a man, wearing an off-road motorcycle helmet entered the Ladbrokes store in Hemsworth at around 9.20pm last Thursday.

He jumped over the counter and took cash from the till, terrifying members of staff.

He then threatened two members of staff with a knife before fleeing the scene on foot.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery by detectives.

The suspect was released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who was around Market Street, Hemsworth, on September 27 at around 9.20pm.

They would also like to hear from anyone who saw a man wearing a motorcycle helmet running from the shop shortly afterwards.

A 25-year-old man has appeared in court charged with robbery in connection with the incident at Betfred, on the corner of Fitzwilliam Street and Wakefield Road in Kinsley.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before Leeds Crown Court on Monday.
