A REPLICA aeroplane, horse-rider and steed and a host of Olympic athletes have moved in to Badsworth.

But the unusual visitors are all home-made scarecrows created especially for the village’s annual festival.

Organiser Ann Slinger said: “This year we had about 38 scarecrows and people have worked very hard and the quality was excellent.

“It brings quite a lot of visitors in to the village and over the weekend people have been walking around and discussing what they’ve seen.”

Representatives from Rogerthorpe Manor sponsor and help judge the event, with top prizes going to the synchronised swimming scene, a horse and rider, and a weightlifting scarecrow.
