IT WAS a sweet morning for children as they listened to the story of the Gingerbread Man and got the chance to bring the character to life.

Children from Sunflower Children’s Centre in Moorthorpe travelled to South Elmsall library on Tuesday morning for a story time session.

The four children listened carefully to the story and then sang some of their favourite songs, including Two Little Fishes, Two Little Ducklings and Going to the Moon.

They then got the chance to bring their very own gingerbread man to life by making puppets.

The children were helped by their parents to glue, cut and stick their creations together.

Julie Lambert, family play and learning worker at the children’s centre said the children had a wonderful morning.

She said: “It was a lovely opportunity for the children and their parents to play together.”

The group runs every Tuesday from 10.15am until 11.15am at the library on Barnsley Road.

It is aimed at children from 18-months up to four years old.

The free session is then followed by toast and milk for the kids and a chat for the adults.
