PUPILS and their parents have been cooking up some tasty treats as part of a healthy eating programme.

The foundation stage youngsters, from Kinsley Primary School, are taking part in Taste Tots, with the older children signing up for the Taste Buddies project, both of which are run by local company Floury Fingers.

The children have been joined in school by their parents, who have been helping them whip up healthy salads, pasta, pizza and gingerbread.

The parents then learn about nutrition, healthy meals and eating a balanced diet.

Headteacher Paul Birdsall said: “It is a year long project and it has been very, very popular.

“The parents love coming in and doing some baking with their children and the pupils really value the classes as well.

“It is all about promoting lifelong learning about nutritious food and helping both the parents and children to develop the skills to lead a healthy lifestyle.

“The project is run by a local company and is funded by an Awards for All grant.”
