Pub shop plan given go ahead

Plans to turn a former pub into a shop and four flats have been given the green light by council chiefs.

The application by G French to make the alterations at The Old Crown Inn, on Barnsley Road, South Kirkby was approved by Wakefield Council planners last week.

Work has already startedon the building.

The ground floor will be turned into a general store and the first and second floors will be changed into flats.

Two of the flats will have one bedroom, and the other two will have two bedrooms.

There will also be three disabled parking spaces added to the site.

It is unknown how many jobs the new shop will create.
