Police stop man jumping off a bridge

A police community support officer stopped a man from trying to jump off a bridge in Moorthorpe on Thursday evening.

“Our unit responded immediately and PSCO Ken Short stopped the man who was attempting to climb over the bridge that falls onto the railway. A short while later police officers arrived.

“The man was taken to the hospital by police officers for a mental health assessment and was later admitted into hospital.”

Insp Carter added: “It was a really great piece of work from the local PSCOs and shows the benefit of having units on foot, highly visible in the community.”
