A cannabis farm with more than 10 plants was discovered by police in a property in South Elmsall on Friday.

Officers found 13 plants and 50 clippings for future plants in a terrace house on Cambridge Street.

Insp Geoff Carter, of the South East neighbourhood policing team, said: ”Although the cannabis farm was found in residential premises, it was quite a professional set up.

“Investigations are on going to identify the people responsible.”

He added: “The electricity meter in the property had been bypassed, which means they were not paying for electricity.

“This creates concern as it could have potentially cause a fire not just in the property but in adjacent ones.”

“I ask local people to let us know if they suspect any similar operations of cannabis farms.

“All information would be treated in strict confidence and will be investigated.”
