Plans to build on doctors’ site
Former Health Centre on Highfield Road, Hemsworth
A FORMER doctor’s surgery could be pulled down and be replaced with eleven homes.
The health centre, on Highfields Road, Hemsworth, has stood unused for more than eight years and an application has been sent to Wakefield Council to transform the derelict site.
If successful, eight houses and three apartments will be built, along with 20 car parking spaces.
The centre closed when The Grange and Kinsley Medical Centre opened.
Barry Scholey, of Scholey Properties, based on Station Road, Hemsworth, made the application.
Tina Pattison, clerk for Hemsworth Town Council, said there had been complaints about rubbish on the site and anti-social behaviour in the past.
The council received the application on June 27 and the decision on whether to agree to the plans will be made in September.
